SECTION TITLE: ASIA-PACIFIC
OUR POSITION: Greens aim to promote democracy and human rights, especially in China, Burma and North Korea.
GREEN SOLUTIONS
(1) AFGHANISTAN
End the U.S. and NATO occupation of Afghanistan, and withdraw all U.S. and NATO troops. Begin all-party talks, regional diplomacy and extensive humanitarian aid. Stop the erosion of women’s rights in Afghanistan.
(2) BURMA
End the Burmese military dictatorship, which has killed tens of thousands, imprisoned democratic leaders and rejected elections.
(3) CHINA AND TIBET
Support democracy in China.
End China’s occupation of Tibet, and their wholesale violation of the human rights of Tibetans.
End Chinese assistance for the Sudanese regime responsible for the genocide in Darfur.
(4) INDIA AND PAKISTAN
Support peaceful resolution of the India-Pakistan conflict, and promote nuclear disarmament in those countries.
(5) NORTH KOREA
End the totalitarian government of North Korea through non-violent engagement.
(6) PACIFIC ISLANDS
Support efforts to relocate Pacific islanders who will be displaced by climate change.
